So I am building a new system and I have all the parts I need. I'm using my Hard drive from my old computer as it has my OS system but I have a Samsung 640 g Sata hard drive as well. My other drive is IDE.
When I go into disk Management to Partition the new Sata drive, it doesn't show up at all on the list, just my IDE drive that is already ready and my DVD drive.
In BIOS my Motherboard does recognize the samsung being connected so I don't know why it won't show up in Windows. Any help will be appreciated

You either need to install some SATA controller drivers or set the BIOS to use a compatibility mode. If you have an Intel system you may have a setting in the BIOS labeled AHCI mode. If so, use it.
Or you can install the SATA controller drivers while you are in WinXP and then the SATA hard drive should appear in Disk Management.
I can't steer you to where you need to get the SATA drivers for your system because you didn't list it.

Have you installed the motherboard drivers? also your XP needs to have at least SP1. If it's an old XP disk it may not have any SP's on it and you need to download them.
Summary: WinXP without SP1 can't recognise over 137GB on a drive. Being 200GB leads me to believe this is your problem. If this is the case, the solution is to slipstream SP1 and your WinXP onto a CDR. ...
