Building a system, Asus T2-AE1 barebones, 512mb x2 Corsair Value Select, trying to install XP on sata80gb WD HDD. the bios doesnt recognise the disk, it says no sata devices connected. i know you cant put XP straight on a sata disk but i tried using a floppy with latest driver and it doesnt work.
when i get to the "press f6" prompt to install a sata driver, i press f6 and nothing happens (already tried another keboard!)
so XP starts to load.. then it says do you want to install drivers for bla bla so i put the floppy in (good disk, extracted files straight from CD that came with barebones) yet the pc just seems to ignore it, and pops up the message "insert disk" again. i press enter, it scans the floppy, and pops up "insert disk" again. grrr.so if i ignore that step it says "u want to install or make partition" usual bla.. but in list of disks to install it just says no disk in drive. or course if u then continue u get some crazy error that quits windows setup and only allows u to restart.
any ideas>>?
thanks

On my Asus board, there are bios switches that allow sata to be recognized as ide. Check your bios... you may not even need the software.
