I recently purchased a Soltek SL-K890Pro-939 Via K8T890 Chipset. I installed a SATA drive directly to the mainboard and Windows wont detect the drive but the computer does any suggestions?

You need to load the sata controller drivers onto a floppy disk and press F6 when you are prompted to when installing windows.

When you install xp it will tell you to press F6 to install a Raid controller. You may need to do this?

Thats when it worked for me.

I happen to have a Soltek board (SL-K8AN2E-GR) too and now that I think about it - mine did not require any special drivers for SATA disk recognition and most newer motherboards are like that, provided you've setup the SATA controller to act as an IDE controller, however for RAID it does need a driver.

I would suggest you go into your K890Pro-939 BIOS and set your promise controller on SATA, since about the only related driver to you right now is the RAID one and that's not what you are trying to configure.

If you look under the integrated peripherals section in your BIOS, that option should be there under "Promise Function Select"

Goodluck!

You have more than one SATA connector on the motherboard don't you? Try the others.

There are only two drivers on Soltek's website and both applies to RAID.

- Promise 20579 RAID Driver

- VIA VT8237 RAID Driver (Use this if all else fails)
