SATA drive as slave with IDE as master

Specs: Windows XP, 1 gb, 3.4 Ghz
How do i get to install my SATA drive as slave with an IDE drive as a master, ive tried and its not going through

There's no master or slave in sata devices. If u have 4 ide devices(2 hdd, 2 optical drives) it's recommended 1 hdd and 1 optical drive stay on single channel(primary channel=1 hdd & 1 optical drive Secondary channel=1 hdd & 1 optical drive). make sure sata is enabled in bios and try to swap data and power cable.

i wanted the SATA drive to work as the Slave Drive its blank i formatted it , and i have an IDE Hard drive that i want to be the Master drive. my motherboard picks both SATA and IDE

As long as you set in BIOS to boot IDE drive then that's all you need to worry about. There is no Master/slave relationship with SATA drives

wouldnt it be better to have the OS on the sata drive tho.

it already worked, the problem was with my BIOS setup it was supposed to boot to IDE drive. thanx guys
