While installing another fan in my case, I accidently broke off the serial ata connector on the hard drive. I tried to repair with no luck so I am getting a new one from newegg. Are serial ata connector prone to damage. Is there anyway to repair them? They seem very weak. Am saving old drive in hopes of repair.

Hi,
I read a review on S-ATA Technology a couple of months ago and it said that one of the disadvantages of the cables used is that they can be damaged far more easily than IDE Cables.

Hi,
I had a similar problem awhile back with a SATA drive made by Western Digital. The connector and the cable were very close to the edge of the case and broke.
I called Western Digital told them what had happened and even told them it was of my own fault. They shipped me a new one against my credit card and then when they got mine in return, they voided any fee.
Since then, I've been looking toward Western Digital when before I used to look more towards Seagate.
