Hi guys ,

Need to know if there is any certain way my sata cable should be plugged in , ie what cable goes where , I have 2 hard drives and 1 Blu-ray dvd rom , I currantly have the following cables connected
Blu-ray dvd rom is in sata 1
And two hard disks in Sata 3 and 4

Is thhis ok? The reason i ask is because everytime i go to access the dvd rom drive the system slows right down , and all applications the require the drive , ie Powerdvd and nero , take ages to load , also some times it stutters trying to access one of my hard drives , anything i done wrong?

Here is what i am running
MSI P965 Mobo
3gig Ram
Vista Ultimate 64bit
Radeon 1950 512mb
Intel Core 2 CPU 6400@2.13ghz

Regards
GR

I would say you need to read your manual to see if there is a difference in the SATA ports. Some boards have ports that don't allow the drive to boot from them.

Additionally I would connect the boot drive to the lowest number.

Look in the BIOS settings to make sure you have the boot settings configured to boot to the optical drive first then the SATA drive with the OS on it.

BTW, your blueray drive is NOT a DVDrom. ROM stands for Read Only Memory. Your unit is a writer/burner, therefore not a Read Only unit.

sure did , just seems wierd that every time i got to the blu-ray player it slows right down , come to think of it , i may have another issue , everytime i open certain programs like i tunes , i does the same , its like these programs are taking up all my resource / memory !! Does the same as soon as i do a re-format , and clean install !
