SATA and Prim IDE settings

CPU/Ram: 2.8 P4 w/1 Gig Ram

If i have a SATA hard drive plugged into my SATA 1 slot on my MOBO..do i plug my DVD Burner (which is my only other drive) into primary or secondary ide port and what setting does the jumper on the back of it go to...thanks
