Sata and IDE?

Right now, I have all my IDE slots filled up. (2 ports, 4 devices)
I want to add another harddrive. But I wondered could I have SATA and IDE at the same time. My mobo supports SATA drives and IDE, but I don't know about the same time.
I have a K8NF4G-SATA2 (ASRock I think)
Thanks
Never buy from Savastore or Watford Electronics!!!

It will support both at the same time. Depending on what type of SATA controllers/headers you have, you can have as many as 2 or 4 SATA drives as well, for a total of 6 or 8 drives. Pay attention to whether the SATA supported by the mboard is SATA or SATA 2. If it is SATA only, and you get a SATA 2 drive, it is wise to get a drive that has a jumper that can force SATA/150mbps mode (e.g. some Samsung), because many SATA mboards will not recognize a SATA 2 drive otherwise.

Note that using SATA 1 will not slow down the drive. Both SATA 1 and SATA 2 interfaces are capable of much faster speeds than any hard drive available today.
Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Yeah Jam, I wonder if they do have any drives in development that are fast enough to test their maximum throughput. I guess they could do it with simulated drives using RAM.
