I'm wondering if there is an adaption that can convert a connection port of Sata 1.5 ( First Gen) to Sata 3.0 ( Second gen)
I don't need the speed or anything convertedBasically My last computer crashed. The boot sector failed and I didn't have a restore disc. My hard drive still has a ton of pictures and music I would like to get off it.
I bought a new computer but it only has Sata 3.0 connections
Through my last hour of online research I haven't found to much other then that the connections ( The end physical connection is ) is different.I can take pictures if I need to.

SATA II (3.0GB) are backward compatible with SATA I drives.
The only connection that might be different is the power connector. The data cable connection is the same on both.
If you are referring to the power connection simply use one of the molex connectors in the case. Both are 12V.

The SATA II also includes "locking connectors" but as pointed out above, you should be able to plug a SATA I drive into a SATA II port.
On a side note, if your last computer just "crashed" and it wasn't a software problem, chances are the hard drive is dead, as that is one of the most common parts to have fail. Of Course, if you are sure it was something else that dies, then again, you should be able to just plug that drive into your new computer.

Well I'm confused then because my connections are different.
I took some pictures to help understand( Either I don't know how or computing.net does not allow to display pictures, so I linked them.)This picture is the Sata 1.5 Gb/s connection cord on my old computer.
This picture is the brand it states it to be
Sata brand name
These next 2 pictures are the connection to my old hard drive as well as the kind of hard drive it states it to be.This picture is my old motherboard. I see it has a regular sata connection and then a pin .. The sata cable connected to the pin
This picture is what my new computer sata connection looks like, though the brand name states otherwise
This is the connection to my new computer

The connector on the drive does not look like a standard SATA connector (of any type). There is no noticeable physical difference between a SATA I and SATA II connector. They should both look like the ones you see on your motherboard.
I'd wait till someone else chimes i for a second opinion, but from the pictures, it looks like the plastic part of the connector on the hard drive may have broken off and stayed attached to the old cable. Again, I'd wait for a second opinion though.

RTAdams89: does not look like a standard SATA connector
Look at the "old MB" shot again. He pulled off the MB's SATA connector, and the connector is still stuck to the cable.

That did it!
That connector piece from the old mobo was stuck on!
After you noticed/stated it I saw it.
I first tried the second Sata connection from my dvd drive but the connection was extremely loose.. loose as a goose to the old hard drive. So i used to old sata connection and it was snug.Thank you all for your help!
