Sandisk will not open, error: You need to format the disk...

Specs: Windows 7
My sandisk that I've been using for several years on a pc, was recently used with a mac, where I saved data. Now when I try to open the drive on a pc, it says it needs to be formatted. Will formatting my sandisk drive erase all of my data? How do I get my info back?

Formatting will indeed erase all the data on it.
You should never save important data to just one drive, and especially not a flash drive. It should be saved to another drive as well, so that you have a back-up of it if anything goes wrong.

You must always keep backups of files you don't want to lose. People just don't seem to care about that until it's too late. You only have yourself to blame.

Have you tried *READING * it on the Mac?

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Mike, when I plug it into my Mac, it says the same thing.
Pip22, Thanks for caring. The data on my drive is school stuff since I use the computers there often to get assignments done. Not life and death or anything...but inconvenient.
PC on a Stick: Nice idea, but a little too late for that.
