Specs: Windows vista x64, 4Gb
Hi all, this is my 4th day trying to solve this problem.
I bought this new Samsung DVDRW. It's my first and only SATA device for my GA-G31M-ES2L.
I have an IDE hard drive.
windows vista 64bits recognizes the device but the DVDRW won't read any CD/DVD. the DVD LED starts blinking but goes nowhere from there. I get that message of no DVD found please insert a DVD ... while the DVD tray is opening.
I have tried all configurations in BIOS but nothing. I have read many articles reporting similar problem but, I couldn't find any saying how to configure your BIOS with Hard disk as IDE and, optical DVD drive as SATA.
Anyone could help?
I'm not an expert of any kind in computers so, if I mislead you with my explanation, please let me know and I will try to clarify it.
thanks, Nach

It sounds to me like the new dvdrw drive is defective. Having a hard drive connected to the board via IDE and a optical drive connected via sata is not an issue. As long as you have the appropriate settings set in the BIOS.

There is nothing to configure in BIOS, the drive should work well when both data and power are connected. I think u bought bad optical drive.

I thought so.
I'm sending it back. I can't spend another day trying to connect a DVDRW!
thanks for the support.
