Ok ive rounded it down to my Samsung SP0802N 80gb drive, it has started to emit a very high pitched whine, not loud just high pitched that i can hear but my GF can only hear sometimes, I ran the diagnostic from samsung under DOS and it said the drive was fine, after rebooting the pc after the diagnostic the drive will click loudly and the bios hangs at the hard drive detection it only ever does this after it has rebooted after the diagnostic, last time i had to reboot twice before it would boot properly, diagnostics say the drives good there are no bad sectores, is this drive dieing?? If the drive is still under warranty I would try to RMA it. Each maker has their own criteria for an RMA. If your BIOS has S.M.A.R.T. for drives I suggest you enable it.
