Specs: Macintosh
Sorry to "necro" this old thread. I have a Samsung 4K 42UB820V TV that can record to the USB port, as well as play back videos from the USB port. I bought a 128G USB stick and plugged it into USB port 1 marked HDD on the stencil on the TV. I can use the TV's software to open the USB drive on th "Input List" and read files, view jpgs etc that are stored on there from the manufacturer. But when I schedule the TV to record a programme using the menus: "Guide->Schedule List", it says "Unable to find USB device"

So some parts of the software find the USB device (for playback) but apparently others DON'T find it for recording. IDeas?

The 42UB820V is made by LG not Samsung. How closely have you read the manual? I just had a quick look at the USB section, here's a few highlights:

- If the USB storage device has a built-in auto recognition program or uses its own driver, it may not work.

- Some USB storage devices may not work or may work incorrectly.

- Use only USB storage devices formatted with the Windows FAT32 or NTFS file system.

- It is recommended that you use USB Flash Drives of 32 GB or less and USB HDD of 2 TB or less.

Thank you, yes I started out the post bogusly. It is LG, the model number is correct.
The USB is 128Gb. It is formatted FAT 32ext according to my MAC laptop. It seems odd but the error is "not found" so we would think "invalid format" or "too large" or "can't record too" would be better messages. Since it IS recognized for playing files FROM IT, it seems very strange it cannot WRITE TO IT, do we agree?

It's too large & formatted with the wrong file system. I'm surprised it's seen at all.
