OS: Windows XP
CPU/Ram: 256MB RAM
Product: Dell
Comment:

I recently swapped memory modules from my Dell (256MB) to my Gateway (128MB) computer since I needed more RAM on the latter. After doing so, the Dell has a RUNDLL error message that says: Error loading\3\LXBUtime.dll

Once you answer OK, the settings load and all appears to be fine, though I did not check out the Dell computer's performance to see if anything was altered. I did replace the memory modules in their respective computers to see if that would correct the error, but it still appears. Is this error caused from switching the memory modules? Is it a serious error and how can it be fixed?

First off you need to disconnect the computers from the AC before fiddling with the hardware.

First of all, that was pretty brave of you to attempt that. The memory actually worked in the Gateway? Wow...

Secondly, the LXBUtime.dll is associate with a Lexmark printer. Google the filename. You'll get helpful information.

Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

Thanks for that tip. The Dell computer was connected to a Lexmark printer previously so this error may not be associated with the memory module. The Dell computer's memory card had been purchased from an outside source so I was fairly confident that it was somewhat universal and would work in both. I'm assuming by your comment that this swap would not always work with two different brands of computers. What kind of problems would result?
