Run Main Hard Drive From an External Box ?

i have posted a few posts on here in the past about my Disk Read Error" i have tried Contacting Asus (my motherboard Manufacturer about the issue not much help i am sad to say i tried contacting NVIDA incase there was an issue Between the Chipset and the SATA not much good i have ran numerous Disk Checking Software including windows stuff like ChkDsk with all the usual /R to help me prehaps help me through a process of elimination i had an idea could i run the hard drive my one and only, my main hard drive that is in my pc atm, could i run this outside my pc and in one of those External Enclosures boxes sort of like an external windows i feel if i can run it externally it wont be using any sata ports on my board just what ever it uses to connect to the pc externally from the box and see if it still generates a disk read error.i have ran memmory testing software all is ok

You should be able to do this as long as your bios can be set to boot from a USB device. This would help to t-shoot of the errors are from the SATA controller/connections on the MB or if it is with the drive itself. If you have access to another, known working PC, you can also try to connect it in via USB as a spare drive and see if it can be read that way as well.

aegis1: Almost the same adapter as the one I have from a different mfr. Works great and would be a great test or possible solution to this issue.

Thanks for that, looking around the net it seems alot of people are having similar issues as me, before i get an enclosure i am goin to try gettin a Different sata cable and have it goin strait to the sata controllers on the MB becuase just at the bottom of my case it a jungle of cables n my SATA CABLE it sort of goes down and round before geetin round to the SATA ports on the MB gona try n move the HD to a better bay n see if that helps i went to the channel EXPO recently and saw this one company had this Complete testing kit www.UXD.eu doing a complete physical test of all components on the MB this kit costs from 500- 800 quid shame there wasnt anythin like that you can get for the price of a pc game

Also somethin i ahd forgotten about my Case the Antec 900 has an eSATA port on the front

i have washed my hands of XP and on Windows 7 x64bit and guess what no disk read error (for the moment)
