Ruining thumb drives without ejecting them?

I have a friend that has a thumb drive that he never ejects. I was wondering if you could ruin the thumb drive, not just erase the data if you did not safely ejecting them.

Aside from maybe corrupting the data I doubt it would physicaly damage the drive.

You ought use the tool to safely remove. I can't say there is a reason to physically damage the flash if you don't.

Safely is a poor word to use. They mean DATA safe not physical or electrically safe nor any manner of safe for a person.
