Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some general questions.

Im wishing to purchase a router/switch for home use as I want to link my 2 computers to the net.

I have one here that Ive been lookin at.

http://www.scorptec.com.au/index.php?prdid=00003675

I dont really know the difference between some models as the one im lookin at is around $110 AUS and ive seen them go up to atleast $300 AUS. I cant notice a great difference between this one and others.

Would this router do the job?

Asus P4P800S mb
P4 2.4Ghz (800Mhz)
1Gb DDR 400Mhz Ram
Geforce FX 5600 128mb

It'll do fine. But if you do not want a network printer you can get cheeper. In case you don't know, a network printer would connect to the router so all you need is the printer on. If you "share" a printer, it would need to be connected to a computer and that computer turned on for other network computers to use.

When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!

looks like it will do very nicely. and appears good value. I recently paid $50AUD for an 8 port switch but the unit you're looking at is full router with inbuilt firewall and printserver. If you have a printer that you want to share then that's the way to go. Either of your PCs could then print independantly
