Hi everyone,

I connected three Maxtor Plus 80GB hard drives to the Romtec Trios device, and I have tried to install Windows ME on one hard drive, but while Win ME is installing, it gives me an error something like "disk error...." Since I set all three hard drives to Cable Select (CS), and I also have tried to set to "Master" modes, but the problem is same thing. The weird thing is that the hard drive number 2 is working fine, but for hard drive 1 and 3 have the same problem. Does anyone know what's wrong and any suggestion? Sorry for the long description

Maybe I have misunderstood your post. But anyway ...

One drive on a cable must be plaugged master and the other slave.

If you use cable select, the drive on the end connector will be the Master. It will be the one normally selected for the install.

If you are installing ME, I 'think' the drive should be partitioned and formatted first.

This probably should have been posted in the WinME forum.

OOPS, I ssumed the Romtec thing was an IDE controller. I checked (a little late) and found out it's a Hard drive switch box. Ignore my post please.

No problem Ham30. Anyway, thank you for input. I understand about Master, CS, and Slave setting mode on hard drive. I did partioned and formatted the hard drive before I install Windows ME.
