Are the subject Specs based upon the differential RS422C stds and if so does an ethernet hub isolate the inputs from one another plus what are the pin configurations?

There is no comparison between RS-232 and Ethernet at all. They are as different as chalk and cheese.
RS-232 uses voltage levels. RS-232 is a point to point system.
Ethernet uses a modulated carrier. That's why the link light comes on as soon as you plug and Ethernet cable into an active Ethernet socket. If both end are active the link light lights, even before any software in installed.
