Rj11 cable to 9 pin Serial Port Connector

Specs: Windows Vista
Need wiring diagram for Rj11 to 9 pin serial port connector. Need to know where the pins go in the 9 pin connector and there are only 6 pins

You have an adapter with only 6 pins? Shouldn't matter as RJ-11 only uses 4 (even if 6 are in the cable); usually pins 2,3,and 5.

What does matter is what you want to do with all this. I assume you are connecting a phone cable to a DB9 serial port...that's pretty clear.

Where is the other end of the cable going?

The other end is going to a timer used for Cross Country Meets. The name of the timer is called Time Machine. This will transfer the times of the runners to a program on the computer and place the runners.(1st,2nd,3rd,etc...). I bought the connector at a local store but the pins are not placed in the connector (serial port end) they are attached to the plug for the phone cable.The pins are colored but don't know how to arrange them in the serial port.
