is the question on how do u erase the hdd???
if it is
then u need to get the hdd utility to do a low level format
get the model of the hdd and the manufacturer name
go to the manufacturer website and download the utility for the model number hdd then boot to it u will see somthing like a diags menu run the diags first to make sure there is nothing wrong with the hdd then run the utility that will erase your hdd

or u can get a win 98 start disk and run fdisk

but the low level format will return the hdd to a like new state

Do not do a low level format (which is actually a write zeroes to all sectors), it will delete the recovery partition.

Go to http://esupport.sony.com/perl/selec...
and find instructions for restoring the laptop to the way it came from the factory.
