Hi, I am having a problem with my friends laptop, when it boots up an error message appears saying “ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI Network Controller
Bus:02, Device:06, Fuction:00"
Press F1 to resume"

I press F1 to boot into windows, everything loads fine, when fully loaded the add hardware wizard pops up, I direct it to the drivers but it never finds then, says "Cannot install hardware"

I don’t understand why it is doing this maybe it needs a bios update; however I am unable to find the latest bios for the board,
It currently uses phoenix bios 4.0 release 6.0

Any suggestions please would be much appreciated, thanks!

You may have a bad Mini PCI card.

do you need to use the network hardware?
If not, can you disable it in the BIOS/Setup and that should stop it giving this message

Yeh he wants to be able to use the wireless network

I have read that I might be getting the message because the card may have become unsettled and if I open the laptop up reset the card it may solve the problem, is this a good solution, unsure to try it as I have never open up a laptop before other then the easy access slots, memory, battery etc...

Check your bios settings for resources: there might be an option for automatic configuration: or if the pc is older, it might have a parallel port or something like that could be disabled, and fix the problem.

i have disabled everything possible in the bios still the message appears. the chipset is a intel 855pm running phoenix bios 4.0 release 6.0 which seems to be the latest, so am stump, i cant think of anything else other then opening it up and checking the card has not become dislodged!
