okay, there are vga monitor cables for sale, but i've seen enough monitors where the vga cables permanently attached to the monitor. or am i wrong? is there way a way to detach it and replace it?

it's because my vga cable is missing pin #7, which is for green, isn't it?

some high-end monitors have detachable 15-pin connectors on both ends, in which case, you'd be lucky and can just replace the cable. If it's hardwired into the back of the monitor, I hope you know someone that's good at rebuilding cables, otherwise, time to go shopping for a new monitor. Ugh!

Does you monitor still work OK like this? If so, why change it. Are you sure it is pin seven and not pin nine that you are missing. Many monitor cables do not have a pin nine. You say it is "missing". What gives with this, did you break it off, or what?

i say pin #7 counting from the top.

the thing is, my MB is fried so i don't know if the missing pin is affecting the monitor's output. but yes, pin #7 is green GROUND, so i'm assuming it'll be okay (i hope).
