Replacing my Asus advice please

Specs: Windows 7
Hi, First time ever posting but could really do with some help as I'm not computer literate at all! I've got a 6 month old Asus X5DC celeron 1.2 running windows 7 and Sage accounts, it is painfully slow at all times and has been condemned to continue to be so by my local shop due to the processor. They've offered me a £100 trade-in for it against a Sony Vio VPCEE3E1E with a AMD Dual processor 2.1 for £350. They say both these are unable to be upgraded, so need to make the right choice this time. Any help or info would be appreciated, many thanks

Sounds like they're trying to hose you. Both laptops are similar in specs. The running slow isn't the processor. Something else id bogging you down. The Asus got good reviews and has a core2 duo processor. I suspect your problem is either to many applications running or some type of infection. Click Start / Run and type msconfig in the box. Click the Startup tab and uncheck any programs that you don't need to run at startup and can be started as needed. Download and install Malwarbytes from this site.

Also download and install this program that will safely clean your registry.Download the slim version.

Also, if the machine came with Norton antivirus or any other crap programs, uninstall them and get Microsoft Security Suite. It works well, is free and doesn't use a lot of resources. Good Luck.
