I was just wondering if for a HP Pavilion ze5185 model I would need any sort of special laptop hard drive as a replacement. I don't know about sizing. I am looking to get a replacement on Newegg but I want to make sure it will work.
Laptops typically require special 2.5" drives, due to space restrictions in case. Desktop Hdd won't work. Thickness of drive also critical. IDE Cables different, smaller plugs.
These HDD's can get very expensive. Why are you replacing yours? Problems or upgrade?

Hi, Usually the only physical difference in Laptop drives is the thickness. Play it safe and measure the old drive. A thin one will replace a thick one but not the other way around. Good Luck, Jim
