Comment:

The previously owned ThinkCenter 8086-24U I recently purchased came equipped with a CD-ROM drive. Unlike most earlier and later (Lenovo) models the 8086 was designed to use "slim" optical drives, not standard 5-1/4" boxes.
I have been contemplating switching out the CD-ROM drive for a combo drive (CD/DVD burner). If I were to proceed, would the job involve anything more than just swapping the drives and adding DVD-burning software?
Thanks

As long as it physically fits in the drive bay you shouldn't have any problems. You appear to have the necessary hardware--cpu/ram--to support it.
