Replaced CMOS Battery, Still Not Working

Gateway / 560ge

Specs: Windows XP
When starting my Gateway 560GE computer, the power light would flash a few times, the computer would make the sound like a car having trouble to start and it would turn off without ever getting to any windows loading screen or any screen.
Figuring this was a CMOS battery problem, I replaced the battery. Now, the motors, comouter etc. stays on but the light still flashes, theres still the sound of a sputtering motor and nothing on screen. Only difference is it doesn't shut off.
What else might the problem be?

Yup, a lot of hardware failure possibilities. It could be a bad hard drive, bad cooling fan, bad power supply, etc. Common sense should tell you batteries don't make noise.
