I'm trying to replace a cmos battery. The battery is soldered directly to the VIA VT82885N bios chip, which i managed to ruin by breaking the pins connecting it to the battery...I was reading that if these pins are broken then the motherboard itself is useless. Is it not possible to obtain a new VT82885N chip(WHERE) and solder on a new battery? If this chip is outdated, what known replacements can be used? Thanks

has replacement bios chips for most motherboards, but it might be cheaper to buy a replacement motherboard. check www.pricewatch.com for best prices.
