Hi,
what's the best product to use to clean thermal paste off a copper heatsink? Cos i just got the coolermaster premium thermal compound stuff and wanna put that on. and do you think i should clean the chip too?

I just use a dry q tip to remove thermal compund, and yes remove all the old thermal compound from the heatsink and cpu before applying new thermal compound.

I just use a clean, white paper towel with a little edge lightly moistened with paint thinner. It instantly dissolves & removes the grease off the heatsink and the chip also. To get it totally off you need something to dissolve the grease. There should not be a "haze" or any residue left on the heatsink or chip.

I use alcohol. It does the same thing(though maybe not as easily as paint thinner).
