Currently use Epson CX6600; problem is the PC suddenly stopped to recognise it. Probably because a file may have been deleted in error(or corrupted). I then tried removing the printer software using control panel add/remove. When trying to remove the software it said "Software Uninstalled"........but the details still remained in the add/remove box. Whilst I was in control panel and looked in Printers/Faxes and it still showed the Epson CX6600 printer with the words deleting next to it. I restarted PC and exactly the same was still there in add/remove and in printers/fax it said Deleting. I then reinstalled all the printer software again (printer still never worked) and then tried to uninstall it..............only to get the same problems in Control panel (add/remove) and printer deleting in printers and fax. OK I then went into regestry files and removed the Epson printer via the HKEY_Local_Machine>>>>>>>>>uninstall. This now has removed it from the add/remove programs but I still have it in the Printers/Faxes saying deleting. I am convinced this is why it will not work; and if I can remove it from Printers/Faxes it hopefully will solve the problem. Can anyone tell me how I can remove it from the Printers/Faxes in the Control Panel. I hope that makes sense..........any advice would be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure this will work, but worth a try... 1.Open Printers and Faxes . Highlight the printer if it exists and select remove from the left pane. Select File > Server Properties > Drivers > highlight the installed printer(s)and click Remove . (Do not restart if asked to) 2.Delete any temporary files/folders if they exist: C:\Temp C:\Windows\Temp C:\Documents and Settings\****\Local Settings\Temp **** is for any profile with the folder "Local Settings\Temp" . 3.Open Device Manager>Ports , right click Printer Port LPT1 , select Uninstall. OK. (Do not restart yet if asked) Close Device Manager. 4. Search Files and Folders for "Epson" and delete them. 5. Do the same again in the Registry. 6. Turn off the printer. 5. Shutdown the pc. 7. Disconnect the printer and unplug its power. That should have cleaned the printer out of the system for good.
