removing hard drive

Specs: Windows 95, 32 mb
I am going to throw this old desktop away but I want to take out the hard drive and destroy it myself. I know nothing about the innards of a computer. Where is the hard drive, how do I remove it. Thank you so much.

1. To locate the hard drive:

- Open the case
- The hard drive should be located in the front of the computer ( several inches below the cd-rom ) is a pic...
- There should be two cables going into the hard drive ( IDE cable ( a pic ) and power cable ( a pic )
- Remove them
- Unscrew the hard disk screws
- Take out the hard drive...

To insert the new one, just revert the above steps..

Good answer above. I might only add that there are ususally 2 screws on each side so you may need to remove the other side panel or even more. Some computers have tool free mounting. If you don't see any screws on the sides then you may have a tool free case. Depressing retainers on the sides usually allows the drive to slide out.
