Hello, I have a question about updating BIOS via Floppy. I have followed the exact instructions located here:

http://www.abit-usa.com/downloads/bioshelp.php

I extracted all of the files from the zip onto the floppy which were named:

ABITFAE.BAT
KN8_14.BIN
RUNME.BAT
awdflash.exe

The problem is that when I try to boot the floppy with those files, I get an error saying:

"Remove disks or other media
Press any key to continue"

I know that it means that there are no bootable files on the floppy, but they are. So why isn't this working?

Make a bootable floppy disk and copy the necessary files onto it.

If that's what you did, then try another (different) boot diskette

(I thought you had a degree or something?)

Here's how I would do it....

- create a WinME boot floppy & have a 2nd floppy containing awdflash.exe & KN8_14.BIN

http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

- boot off a WinME boot floppy & select "Minimal Boot" (I think it's option 4)

- after it stops at the A:\> prompt, remove the boot floppy & insert the floppy with the BIOS files

- then type AWDFLASH & hit the ENTER key

- follow the onscreen instructions from there

NOTE: save the old BIOS as OLDBIOS.BIN & it will be backed up to the BIOS floppy

Thanks that did the trick.
