I wanted to buy an SATA hard drive for video storage. I just installed XP home on my EIDE drive. I'm told to get the SATA drive to work, I have to install a driver BEFORE I install windows which means less than a week after installing XP and activating it, I have to do it all over again just to get an SATA drive working??? Is this true??? If so, thats nuts!

NO
Just plug the sata drive in and windows should detect, then ask for the drivers.

if it still does not work... I don't think it will... you have to install the motherboard drivers for the RAID controller... you are using a raid zero and then it will work out just fine... oh and set up the drive with the step by step instructions..

I installed the Raid drivers no problem. They show up in Device Manager. I don't actually have the SATA drive yet. I'm getting it next week. I was just upset when I was told that I have to go through the whole mess of reinstalling and activating XP just so my new SATA drive will work as a secondary drive.
Its not like I'm replacing my current drive. The SATA is just storage for video editing. You can see my frustration at the implications of my original post.
Thanks

It's not the raid drivers that you need.
It's the sata driver.
