Red light on/constant beeping/no screen

Specs: Windows XP 2002 SP2
me n a friend just put a new fan on an old custom built computer, and then started it up, found there was a password, got the OS disc and reinstalled the OS. First 30 mins after that it worked perfectly, just like a new computer, then the screen froze, so i shut it down, and started it back up again, there was no screen, but a red light, and a constant beeping, then beeping was the same for 2-3 mins, no code. So i first reseated the video card. no dice, still the same, now im lost, any help? someone said something about a battery on the motherboard with the same probelm

The beeping IS the code. Is it a constant beeping or a series of high-low or long-short tones? Do you know which BIOS your system uses? Award, AMI, Phoenix? The 3 most common causes are memory, video card or an overheating CPU.

i mean its just constant beeping, about 2 second beeps, with 5 seconds in-between each beep, never stops. Its a PhoenixBIOS, K7 Phoenix is what the label says. I reseated the video card again just to make sure it was in correctly. It was sitting for about a year, so amybe theres some dust somewhere that just needs to be cleaned.

edit: just took out the ram and booted to see if it was a bad stick, no screen still, and still red light+ beeping. put the ram back in... no more beeping, still no screen and red light >.<

restarted again, this time, it booted up, screen workin, and it boots up again and again always after i reseat the ram stick
