If you run the Recovery Disk it will completely wipe the hard drive, PC World are shockers for mis-information.

If you have a virus clean it out, reinstall is the very last option.

CN has a Security & Virus forum.....

"ilovejake" the cd/dvd in the tray and startup the laptop.

... it should then bootup from that media, follow the instrctions it displays.

... it'll wipe your drive to factory condition but you loose other data click here for more info.

According to AVG, only 3% of malware these days is a virus.

~95% of the time, you can remove whatever malware you have on your computer without having to re-load the data contents of your hard drive.

If you describe the malware produced symptoms you have in enough detail, we can probably suggest programs you can try to get rid of the malware.

If you have personal data on the hard drive you don't want to lose, you can copy that to elsewhere BEFORE you run the Recovery procedure. There are even sites on the web you can temporarily copy your data to.
