Recover water-damaged Dell 6400 laptop

Specs: Windows Vista, 512
My laptop suffered very minor water damage.

Since then the battery light flashes red quickly 4 times, then green once for slightly longer.

On booting up, the HD light flashes momentarily and the power and number lock lights come on steadily. The Caps lock and similar light to the right of this flash on and off. This is all that happens.

There's no way to know what exactly is damaged.

The first thing you should have done is remove the battery so the laptop circuitry isn't charged. Water on a charged PCB board will damage it. Water on a non-charged board is very unlikey to cause damage.

Then let it dry out or disassemble it and dry the components before using it again. Maybe doing that now will improve the situation but I doubt it.

If it's still under warranty maybe you can pretend you don't know what happened and get another one.

Real men don't use AntiVirus; they just reformat
