reconnecting compurer ribbon cables

Specs: Windows 98, intel
Hi I have an old computer win 98. I took apart, but now i need to replace the ribbon cables where they belong, lost diagram.
have just a mother bd, separate video card, spund card, hard drive, floppy. can anyone tell me or direct me to a web site. i have looked but cant find a good site. thanks for your help

If your ribbon is hooked up to your motherboard the red stripe on the ribbon goes to the right closest to the power connector on your devices. You'll need a connection to your hard drives / cd and dvd players and your floppy drive. Your sound card and video card don't use an ide connection. Also make sure your drives have a power connection plugged in from your PSU. Hope this helps...

I addition to what grasshopper wrote, the red stripe on the ribbon cable corresponds to the #1 pin. As he pointed out, on the devices it is always closest to the power connector. On the board, it may be a little more difficult to determine, but *usually* there's a small "1" printed on the board.

Have a look at the following pic...notice on the right side of the connector there's a 1 & 2. Also notice the notch in the middle of the connector:
