rear usb ports not working

CPU/Ram: P4 3.4Ghz/ 1GB

i have a asus motherboard, but the rear 4 usb ports are not working. when i plug in a usb device, nothing happens! i have also checked that the usb ports are enabled in the bios. but still they dont work!

Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers after installing Windows?

Do any USB ports work? Are the ports in question the ones directly on the motherboard or on a bracket that connects to a header?

To add to previous post, if that has been done, you may have to buy a pci usb card.

i have installed the motherboard chipset drivers after installing windows and none of the usb ports work. the usb ports are onboard

Have you looked in Device Manager to see what Windows has to say about the USB controllers?
