I have a desktop PC with the Realtek audio sound card. I have a peculiar problem. I would be happy if anyone can help me in this.

Whenever i plug in the MIC into the Pink Jack it gives the monitor and the monitor level is very low and i am not able to get feedback in the headphone which is very essential for my voice and music recordings. I must listen to my recording which will give me a better recording. I have enabled Mic IN through the Volume settings. While testing the Hardware the volume level in the Mic is very low.

I have also tested the same microphone with another laptop of mine. It is working fantastic with that laptop (Dell Latitude -- Ess Maestro Sound Card) and i am able to get the feedback in my headphones to the desired level and the recording volume is also very good.

Whereas in my Desktop though the recording is going on i face two problems :

1) Recording is going on but the volume level is very low.

2) I cannot hear my own voice while recording whereas the actual recording is going on.

I can see the recording level monitor blinking in my recording software and the actual recording is also going on. But the sound level is very low as well as the feeble audibility through the headphone.

Thank you very much for your help

J.B

I don't understand your comment about the monitor.

Do you have a slider for the mic in your sound settings? If not, open the sound icon and choose options. Is there a box for the mic and is it checked?

Monitor is a term used in sound parlance to denote the sound that you hear while wearing a headphone or through speakers.

I have gone through the steps that you have mentioned. please help me.

Thank you
