When I first got this computer I disabled the Realtek nic in the Bios because I was on Dial Up, now I am getting DSL with Verison/MSN and going to install it this week and so I went into the Bios and enabled it, and want to make sure it is working right, something I don't remember seeing before and Just want to make sure, when it boots up after showing alot of stuff numbers etc, it says
Realtek RTL8139/8130/810X Boot Agent
Press Shift F10 to Configure.... then it starts Windows, I pushed Shift and F10 to see what it does but it just goes to Windows anyway...

My Question is this what it should say, I have updated the driver and seems to be fine, of course I have no yellow ? in the control panel just a little computer at the bottom with a red x saying a network cable is unplugged, which I assume because I don't have it connected yet, just don't want to have any connections when I connect on the 30th.

I think you are supposed to Press Shift F10 to Configure before Windows Starts. Once Windows has started to load then its to late and yes, you have to be fast.

The chances are thought that the default configurations are adequate. The only things you can set is speed. 10Mbs/100Mbs/Auto. It's probably on Auto which is fine.

You may also be able to configure half duplex or full duplex. Which one is best depend on how you connect to the Internet. If you connect with the modem plugged directly into the Network port then full duplex is best. If you connect via a hub, then half duplex is best.

I think you may have enabled boot from network in the BIOS sequence. Back to BIOS setup and check. All you need is Floppy, CDROM and HardDisk.

My boot sequence is floppy, CDROM then IDE-0, I don't see Boot to network i PROBABLY CHANGED THAT ORDER BECAUSE I have drive Image and wanted to boot from floppy, I think. My connection is built into my computer and I received a ?I think it is a modem from verison which looks like it plugs right into my computer. I have tried and pushing Shift & f10 just does not do anything, it just goes right to Windoes, I can press Del and go to bios and set things but can't make shift and f10 do anything.?
