Comment:
I recently recieved an adapter (or transformer, i honestly don't know what it's called) for my PG58 Shure microphone, which is a dynamic normal vocal microphone. I have Realtek AC97 Audio soundcard, and It's not installing the hardware at all. I have a recording/editing program, if that hepls. I don't know, I'm just really stumped, so any advice would help.

Maybe a condenser (1/4 or 1/8, the size of normal headhphone jacks)...the mic cable plugs into it, and it plugs intot he input sound of the puter.

The adaptor you received is probably an impedance matching transformer that takes it from 600 ohms to 10k ohms. The Shure PG58 is a dynamic mic so it doesn't need a batter yor phantom power to run.

However, your post is a little confusing. First you talk about the mic, then the sound card that won't install, then you mention something about an editing program.

Not to be rude but you should stick to the main topic which I assume is the sound card not installing. Do you have the proper drivers for it? if not go to www.driverguide.com and download them. Once you get your sound card working, then we can talk about connecting the mic and the editing program.

Yeah, I think the driver was the main issue. I just wanted to include as much information that I knew, hoping that maybe it could help. Thanks for the advice.
