I tried real player once. It was buggy. It kept changing my settings and causing all types of problems. It kept trying to connect, when I had set it not to.

It could be a corrupt file. If you want to keep real player, completely uninstall and then reinstall it.

Or, you can try the best MP3 player available HERE (and it is free)

I noticed many of these player's highjack your system ,taking over formats and trying to be your default player ! I removed Quick Time from my system ,I have the free version of real player. However I've been told its a spyware type of application that ,unless you remove it from your startup via msconfig will load everytime you start Windows. Some have recomended removing it completely from my system .Each time I use it to veiw something off the net it add's it back to loading at startup ! I also unchecked in the real player setup all of the formats except real player formats. My default player is WMP !
Good Luck Nick

If you install REALONE player, as stated earlier, it's buggy and tries to contact the Internet even though you opt out of the free player upgrades (inc pop-up's), free recommendations (adverts) based on your music styles (spying)......

To stop the rogue file (realevent.exe) from freezing Windows if you don't allow it to connect.... restart your PC in safe mode, search for realevent.exe and re-name it to
realevent.ex-
This way you can rename it back again if necessary. I have it re-named and the player works OK. No pop-up's, freezing or other unwanted poo.

This has to be done in safe mode, because the file is protected and can't be re-named otherwise.
