I love these sorts of posts - what are you trying to achieve? you're unlikely to get replies saying 'yes, it's brilliant....', you're more likely to get posts saying 'you should have......' or 'why did you get...'. Is it just a masochistic tendency that you want people to slag off your system or are you genuinely not sure whether you've spent your hard-earned money on something decent? If so, why not spend your time doing a bit more research before you buy?

End of rant.....

Apologies for last post - I seem to have had a day of dealing with such pointless queries & this was the first one I could reply to honestly ;-)

Don't worry about it Johnr, It's just the computer equivalent of the young males compulsion to see who can piss up the wall the highest.

Go there and tell us it's rating - I don't expect it to be anything above average ;-(

Actually, you don't mention the most important bit - how much did you pay for it? The basic spec isn't cutting edge & it looks like a fairly basic Dell-type system (though it isn't as you'd have got the extra 512Mb RAM which would make it better).

It's all onboard graphics/sound etc. Low spec. flat panel monitor & OEM version of XP Home? I would guess not much more than £400(UK) (no idea if you're in the US). Fine for general word-processing, browsing etc. - ideal for a student but no good for gaming/graphics & suchlike.

That's the slagging-off done with...

Sorry, no good at finance so cannot comment on the R4500 figure but first thing would be to invest in more RAM - doubling it to 1Gb would improve things measurably. Next, if you can, add a separate graphics card rather than relying on integral graphics - that's what graphics cards are manufctured for & if you're planning on any sort of gaming get the best that your system will support. (Sorry, cannot be bothered to check & see what your MOBO can handle, but if you go to the manufacturer's website you can probably find out). Apart from that, you're stuck - no point maxing out the processor unless you can part-ex it for the best the board will take. Sorry to appear so negative but you really need to do a bit more research BEFORE parting with your cash - it's almost impossible, & definitely not financially viable, to upgrade to the same spec you could have achieved in the first place, given the correct info.

If R4500 = 4500 Rupees, it's about $100US

Jam, it's Rand (SA), not Rupees, so it's about £320UK or $600US.
