OS: winxp home
CPU/Ram: p4 3ghz/512mb
Model/Manufacturer: custom
Comment:
could someone please give me some assistance with this computer. it was just reformated with winxp home. after that it kept shutting down randomly, the cpu temp was 64-70c so i put a brand new heatsink and fan on it. it is a p4 3ghz 478 mobo is 661FX-M ECS. i have tried the stick of ram in another slot. i am more worried about the psu failing. here is the volts as prime95 are running. let me know if this is normal or not. or if there is anything else i can try to keep the computer stable

Oh i forgot to add, when i added the new heat sink it hasn't change the temps of the cpu.

You probably didn't need a new HSF, most liekly it just needed a good cleaning & *maybe* the old thermal paste removed & fresh paste reapplied.

I don't see anything listed for your voltages...the tolerance is 5% +/-, so your ranges are:

+3.3v = 3.135 - 3.465v

+5v = 4.75 - 5.25v

+12v = 11.40 - 12.60v

I was going to just clean the dust out and apply new thermal compound. but stupid me broke the male end that fits on the retention bracket
