I just spent the last 4 hours working on a computer with random reboots. I first thought it was a virus as ZoneAlarm had been disabled and AVG hadn't updated since Apr. 15 and when I tried to update it kept telling me there was no internet connection. I ended up formatting and doing a fresh install. No luck ... it's still randomly rebooting. Some additional specs for this system are: 60GB hd, ATI All In Wonder PCI video card, AOpen AX3SP-U motherboard, 4 port USB card, AOpen FM56-PM modem, cd burner, cd-rom, 300W power supply. They have DSL internet using an Alcatel modem with USB connection. I have already swapped out the ram and it still reboots. I've also checked all the fans and they are running fine. One thing I have noticed is that CD's tend to be very hot when removed from either drive and the hard drive seems to be very hot to the touch. Any ideas? Anyone? I am at a loss.
Thanks

take the sides off and blast the air from a box fan through it. the problem sounds like overheating. i'm sure this has already occured to you. the cd and hd being hot. if the cooling blast of the fan solves the problem then we can deal with the overheating problem.

Thanks Tom.
The darned machine started something new tonight. Now on start up it says something to the effect ... Boot from CD. Bootable CD does not exist. Boot disk error, insert system disk and press any key to continue.
When I left it last night the boot sequence was floppy, HD, CDrom. What gives now?
This machine is driving me nuts. I think if I can solve the issues this time I will just tell these people to get rid of it and get a new machine. This one has turned into a real money pit.
Thanks for any and all help
