My computer has been having this really annoying problem of randomly freezing up on me. I say random because there is no certain amount of time that has to pass (it might freeze a minute after booting up or it might run fine for a couple days before freezing again) and it doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing at the time of the freeze. If I'm watching a video or playing a game at the time of the freeze the audio will just repeat constantly, if the system is idle it will sometimes freeze there. I can boot up and make it into windows without any problems but once the system freezes the only way out is to do a hard shut down or push the reset button. I've already reinstalled windows on two different hard drives both with a full formatting, I've updated all my bios, removed my video card (I don't have another computer to test it in but the system still froze running off of the mobo's gpu), and done multiple virus/spyware scans. I'm running out of ideas so any suggestions on what to do would be appreciated. Also here's my system information just incase:
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3
System Manufacturer: INTEL
System Model: DG965WH

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS
Display Memory: 512.0 MB
Current Mode: 1440 x 900 (32 bit) (59Hz)
Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor

I am about 90% sure it is USB related. Using external drives of any type aggravates the problem. Trying updating the USB drivers. You might also want to to look at this page:

I am having the same issues. If you can use a PS/2 mouse and keyboard if you are not already, try that. This will help troubleshoot whether it is USB related or not.
