RAM/msconfig problem

CPU/Ram: QuadCore Intel/ 8gb

I have been using msconfig to disable RAM to play a application. But now It seems it wont pick up my actualy RAM, I have 8gb, but everytime I use msconfig now it sticks at 3gb and wont pick up my 8.

Any idea?

If you're running the 32-bit version of Vista, all you've ever had available was 3GB +/-.

Specs:
Vista 64bit premium
Quadcore 2.8ghz
1.5TerraBite
8gb Ram
ATI 4870X2

advanced boot options, untick max memory and then type in the amount you want, and restart your computer, but now when i untick the box so it goes back to defult, it seems to think theres only 3gb, when in bios it shows 8gb
