I have a P4 2.4 gig on a P4B533 motherboard. with 1 stick of pc2100, 256MB. & I just added 2 sticks of 512MB
pc3200, 200MHz. But when I check how much ramm I have, it's only reading 1 Gig.
Below is the memory support for my motherboard, & as you can see, it reads...DDR memory support
The ASUS P4B533 and the Intel 845E chipset unlock the value of Pentium 4 technology
with high-bandwidth DDR SDRAM. Supporting up to 2GB of PC2100/PC1600 and a peak bandwidth of 2.1GB/s, the P4B533 enables enhanced performance in multimedia applications, video, audio, 3D games and more.Does this mean it won't more then 1 Gig of anything more then the 2100 or 1600.?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
thanks,
Maxx...

Forget the readings, you should remove the single 256 chip in order to utilize the pc3200 at optimal bandwith. Mixing pc2100 with pc3200 will cause the 3200 to run slower. PLUS, you won't be running in dual channel. Remove the 2100 and use only the 3200. Make certain they are installed in slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 (ie. an empty slot between them) to run in dual channel.
ASUS P5GD1
P-4 3.4 SOCKET 775
1G Corsaire PC400
ABIT RX600SE 256MB PCI-E

1. the board doesn't support dual channel mode.
2. the board only "officially" supports PC1600 or PC2100, but most PC3200 is backwards compatible.
3. remove the 256MB stick. It's not gonna make you or break you anyway. 1GB is plenty
Asus A7N8X-X

Asus A9550 128MB/128-bit
