As far as i know, ebay ship to canada, but correct me if im wrong. If i were you, id hold out to get a little bit extra cash, and get a new processor, but personally, i wouldnt go for the sempron. After that, a little extra ram never hurts ;)

hi longman2006. If you only want to spend $90 CAD, then the best way is to upgrade your computer memory by adding a 512MB stick. You can feel it gets a little better performance when you run many applications at the same time or a heavy game. If you upgrade CPU, you better to use AMD Athlon 64 rather than Sempron. If that is the case, then you have to get a new motherboard as well.

There is nothing wrong with the Sempron...it's nothing more than the old AthlonXP Tbred reconfigured to run at 166MHz/333FSB. They're given a different model number to reflect the better performance of the higher FSB. For example, the Sempron 2800+ is an AXP 2400+

You really need both a CPU & RAM upgrade if you want a decent gaming system.

thx jam, and im curious to ask do you have 4 sticks of 256MB running in ur rig? (2.5 3 3 7??)
I always was told its always better to have more memory in less modules for upgrading and cost efficientcy???
j/c

anyways i think ill get the stick of 512 first so i can run athlon 900/768 and then a semptron with 1gb!!!
is it true that athlon's (thunderbirds) dont have a pr rating??? in aida332 my comp says my 900 has a pr rating of 1275 but someone said its only for athlon xp's and semptrons and future amd's
is this true??? because on gameadvisor it says my 900 is acceptable for running HL2 which requires 1.2p3
thx

Thx in advance!!!

I have two 512MB sticks of Kingston PC3200. The default timings at 200MHz are 3-4-4-8, but I tightened them up to 2.5-3-3-7 without any stability issues.

The older Athlons (non-XP) were not performance rated...a 900 is a 900, no matter what Aida32/Everest tells you. The PR ratings are for the XP/Sempron/Athlon64.

Have you tried overclocking your 900? Does your board support FSB adjustment in increments? You should be able to get it to run at 9 x 112MHz (1008MHz) without a problem...make sure to run your RAM at the same speed (112MHz). There's no advantage to running your RAM faster than your CPU

112MHz FSB will run the PCI bus at 37.33MHz which usually is not a problem. Your problem may be lack of voltage to the CPU...does your BIOS allow for vcore adjustments?

To be honest, you have a cheap board based on a crappy chipset...most SiS boards suck & shouldn't be considered for any type of gaming/performance use.
