I am looking to upgrade the RAM on my system (which is a clone) to 384 MB, which is the max that the motherboard (QDI BrillianX 8V) supports.
I have the opportunity to purchase memory with the following description: Kingston 128 MB PC100 SDRAM (KTC6611/128)
This memory was made for Compaqs, and supposedly should also work on other systems that require RAM with these specs, but I just want to be check with you guys to be sure. So should it be ok?

Go to www.crucial.com. You can run a test on your machine that will verify that. I think pc100 or pc133 will work, but it never hurts to check.

I know for a fact that I need PC100. I just what to verify that this RAM is not ONLY for Compaqs and that it will work on any system requiring PC100 SDRAM.

Thee should be no problem. The more common way to make ram propietry involves changing the format of the slot so that replacements and upgrades cannot be sourced from another supplier.
